Brief encounter

There she sat for half an hour
Enthralled entirely in her power
You didn’t raise your eyes or cough or say
Anything to draw her attention away
From the laptop she worked at constantly
From minute one to minute thirty
Instead you grabbed a glance or two
Thought about what you might do
To ask for her number or give her yours
But now she’s left through the cafe doors

Love Spoken

We part for the day,
Take care, have fun,
We say.

Spend our time apart,
Good luck, safe journey,
Comes from the heart.

Trust my troth to others,
Miss you, kiss kiss,
Is all one mutters.

A last look, stored to last,
I love you my love,
Enough, until this day is passed.

New Romantic

Are you romantic?
Why can’t you be more romantic?
Hopeful and damning but what do we mean?
Why refer to something unknown, never seen
Romance is dead, more romance is undefined
What we want, or want to be is totally entwined
I simply want someone to care how I am
Think of my day, my feelings, of me being their man
I want someone to share with, care for, protect
Talk to, think of, make happy, respect
Two people experiencing new lands as one
Two with eyes wide open like life has just begun
Someone to lie with, a hand to hold
Someone to look to over the years as we grow old
A romance can be a story about how we come to be
Our romance is a life together as you and I excel as we

To be your man

In all of the big wide world
Across the whole of the earth
How many are as we are
and know what love is worth
Nearly ten billion souls
In hundreds of lands
With just you and I
Sharing one love plan.
Very few chase their dreams
Of course not everyone can
But I will always chase you
Above all I want to be your man

Practical Love

Ours is a practical love
I express myself each day
So judge me by my actions
Judge what my actions say

The meal I cook to feed us
Says I want to keep you well
The call I make to check on you
Means I love you, can’t you tell

When I tidy before you visit me
It’s not the cleaning I’m seeing to
I want you relaxed and happy
Before i spend the night with you

Making sure our dates are set
And all our nights are planned
Is not calendar OCD
Making the most of us I demand,

The pair of socks I bought you
Say I want to meets your needs
Want you well homed and happy
Comfort and joy, our love exceeds

I’ll not write a flowing poem
Or create a song for you
I’ll love you in a practical way
Judge me by what I do

A Place for my Heart

A Place for the Heart
Where will my love reside
Now that my house is not my home?
Feelings, emotions I have to hide
Now that my eye has had to roam
Turned away by long term spouse
My path has changed and had to restart
Need to reset, rebuild my house
And find a new place for my heart
With children around me, so much to do
Find and furnish, rebuild and rebase
A quest for love I have to see through
New goals, new possibilities, a new place
A place that fits like a glove,
A place no longer apart,
A place for all my love,
A place for my heart

Love your life

Blank page, clean slate
It’s up to you what you make
Curves or a straight line
Paint fast or take your time
Draw an expansive landscape
Sketch a fantasy portrait
Use colours bright or grey
It’s your decision every day
Make of this new start
A desire from the heart
Of this new page
A happier new stage
No matter what you do
Make sure the work, works for you

Three Words

In three words do lives entwine
A tapestry of climbing shoots and vines
Growing toward loves great light
Together strong against any plight
A man might wait for forty years
Until these crashing sounds he hears
So whenever spoken, quiet or loud
These three words should make you proud
Should make you meek and strive to be
Of this commitment, most worthy
What’s more, if this incantation comes
From the girl whose spirit you becomes
Then you’ve made it, found your goal
Your sun, your star, mate for your soul
In just three words said fleetingly
You can give of yourself completely
And so in return to you I say
I promise in word, in deed and every way
To be better than the day before
And love you for now and evermore

Love of life

Love of life and love of living
Enjoy, experience, travel but Little giving
Learn the lessons of the world
New countries, people, cultures unfurled
Find friends, discover, send ‘grams
No need for goals or mid term plans
Fit in by flying out
Quest for what life’s about
Never settle, no compromise
But shielded from country bagging eyes
Are simple joys.
Hands held by girls and boys
The smile given by a child
The glory of nature, wet and wild
The stories behind your fellow man
Learn of life, here you can
No need to see the fountain trevi
To collect countries, landmarks aplenty
Look around you near your home
It’s all there, no need to roam
So on media social don’t say your worthy
Because of expensive trips and sites
Be grounded, empathic, have wisdom wordly
You can’t buy it, try as you might

Braille Man

He walks through life at peace
He’s come to terms with pain
He takes insults with ease
It’s not fear on his face engrained
There’s nothing he can do
So little he can say
To refresh judgements, to renew
He was just made this way
From birth he bore the mark
Covered in dots and mounds
But he’s so much more
Than the skin he now confounds
He’s grown beyond his growths
He’s determined not to fail
He will make of life the most
He’s not just the man of Braille
