Emotion Expressed

Express your emotions
Let out what you feel
Keep on explaining
That the love you have is real

It doesn’t matter the medium
It doesn’t matter the care
That’s taken to love convey
To get your insides out there

Don’t temper your message
Deliver pure and simple truth
If it’s strong then it’s strong
Go shout it, raise the roof

Take care with your subject
Reflect on what is said in return
Don’t hammer unwelcome doors
Don’t risk bridges being burned

Express your emotions
Let out what you feel
Keep on explaining
That the love you have is real

Sleeping Beauty

Sleep well beauty
Wake with verve
Gather your power
Energy of the earth
Calm your troubles
Set forth your sight
Face your fears
Be reborn overnight
Your body refreshed
Mind and spirit reborn
Heart strengthened
Ready for a new dawn

Two Peas

You and I are different
Two peas from altered pods
We start from dissimilar places
Dissimilar views, dissimilar gods
Physically, strong attraction
Mentally, vibrant interaction
Spiritually, we can coexist
Holistically, can we make a go of this?
I believe; if I can stay as me
If you can remain as you
Both Not tying to force opinion
Both Not trying to change a view
Then, there’s hope that two, can
Never one become
But be more than their separate selves
One plus one does three sum

Strong Morning

I am risen
Stronger than the day
A match for all I meet
Set to succeed in every way
I am open
Observing, learning at pace
Confident in my evolving ethos
Reading the truth in every face
I am here
To be happy, to be me
Surrounded by uplifting souls
Energised, capable and free

No Demands

Smooth skinned
Bright eyed
Hold my hand

So different
Drawn in
Not planned

In the moment
Right now
I’m your man

Talk and trust
Challenge me
But no demands

Be calm
Don’t lean forward
Gentle every way I can

Feel at home
Hope she’ll come
Take as much time as you can stand

All You Can Eat?

What harm am I
Doing in meeting those
Surfing for dates online
And yet the feeling grows
That this isn’t right
This isn’t good for me
Discarding one, taking another
My mental health’s in jeopardy
See, the more you dismiss,
The more you commoditise
The more you feel numb
And your heart, you neutralise
By all means, sort the pile
Take the chaff from the wheat
But remember to choose.
This isn’t an “all you can eat”

Dating Discomfort

Meeting fresh faces
Exposing your dreams
Involves discomfort
Or so it seems
There’s a need to take risks
Share some of your heart
To listen to their stories
A sharing, testing start
Questions do follow
Thoughts flood into your head
Some painful, some exciting
Talk small about books you’ve read
Back, forth, exchanging a view
Close together but rarely at ease
Until. one or other or both decide
About the person she or he sees
Shake hands, hug, kiss
Is he someone you’ll miss?
Smiles and laughter
Seeking happy ever after

Just Met Someone

Just met someone
Stop the clocks
Check yourselves
Senses overwhelmed
Mark this moment
Just met someone

Air still
Night aglow
Euphoric wave
Hammer blow
Eyes shine
Heart heaves
Soul soars
She leaves

Just met someone
Fixed on her smile
Bathe in her light
It starts this night
Alive with joy
Just met someone

Fancy Macchiato

Standing behind you
In the coffee queue
You, a swish of raven hair
Waiting with expectant air
Best bag, boots, nails, brow
Gets what she wants, and how
Made up with no place to go
Ordering a fancy macchiato
A princess, model, engineer
I could ask with you near
But there’s a strong chance
You can judge by appearance
And that all there is to know
Is already ostentatiously on show…

Brief encounter

There she sat for half an hour
Enthralled entirely in her power
You didn’t raise your eyes or cough or say
Anything to draw her attention away
From the laptop she worked at constantly
From minute one to minute thirty
Instead you grabbed a glance or two
Thought about what you might do
To ask for her number or give her yours
But now she’s left through the cafe doors
